August of this year, amid COVID19, lockdowns, California fires, and elections, my husband and I moved to Clovis, California. We bought some land, and we are living in the country. My neighbors have cows, horses, mules, chickens, the obligatory two dogs, cat, almond orchards, and orange groves.

Clovis is one of the more conservative cities in California. American flags coupled with Trump flags, America for Trump truck rallies every Saturday, and only a handful of Biden garden signs. It all made me want to pack my bags and run. I missed the Colorado flag, rainbow flags, dispensaries on every corner, and my liberal family and friends!

Three months later, and here’s what I have learned: Although the Trump supporters make themselves known, Fresno County still voted for Biden, and dispensaries are not readily available, but you can have your marijuana legally home delivered. I have been racking my brain trying to figure out this little city but to no avail. For now, I’m just rolling with it, and I’m determined to make this little city home.
